The Swiss driver will take over from Pascal Wehrlein in the JDC-Miller customer team cockpit and could recommend himself for a Le Mans outing
Nico Müller will contest his first race for Porsche this weekend. The Swiss driver will compete for the JDC-Miller MotorSports customer team in the Sebring 12 Hours, the second round of the 2025 IMSA SportsCar Championship.
Müller, who was transferred from Porsche to the Andretti Formula E team, will share the 963 LMDh with regular drivers Gianmaria Bruni and Tijmen van der Helm.
His appearance at Sebring could bring him into the frame for the third Porsche Penske Motorsport car at the Le Mans 24 Hours. There is still a place available there alongside Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr, after Porsche reduced its LMDh works line-up from ten to eight drivers.
Wehrlein had contested the season-opening race at Daytona for JDC-Miller. The 33-year-old moved from Peugeot to Porsche at the end of 2024 and describes his debut at Sebring as a “last-minute project”.
“I can’t wait to do my first laps in the Porsche 963 and contest my first 12-hour race at Sebring,” says Müller. ”I’ve always loved the IMSA race at Sebring and it’s one of the toughest races on the calendar.”
Müller has already competed at Sebring International Raceway in the past two years: in 2023 with Peugeot in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and in 2022 with Vector Sport in the LMP2 class.
“Thanks to JDC-Miller, Gimmi and Tijmen, I have a strong base from which to quickly get to know the car,” Müller continued. “This will speed up my learning process in the 963.”
Team Principal John Church is convinced that Müller can help the team to move forward: ‘Nico is an excellent addition to our already strong driver trio and builds on the confidence we gained after our strong sixth place at Daytona. A big thank you to our partners at Porsche for making this effort possible.’
