A short film about Michael Schumacher is being made under the name “The Kaiser” – this is limited to the time around his Formula 1 entry in 1991
Michael Schumacher is getting his own movie. At the weekend, a trailer just under two minutes long was released for the short film, which is called “The Kaiser”. According to the makers, the final film will be 20 to 25 minutes long.
Logically, this short time frame will not cover Schumacher’s entire career, but only the period surrounding his Formula 1 entry in 1991 with Jordan. There is no major studio behind the project. According to the makers:
“‘The Kaiser’ is a cinematic short film that tells the previously unknown story of Michael Schumacher’s rise – from his groundbreaking debut in 1991 to the defining moments that shaped a legend.”
“Shot with a bold, cinematic approach and driven by the pursuit of authenticity, the film brings one of motorsport’s greatest stories to life in a way that has never been seen before.”.
“Created as a ‘proof of concept’ for a future feature film, ‘The Kaiser’ combines real historical events with captivating storytelling and captures the intensity, pressure and humanity behind the helmet,” it says.
The film’s title, however, is somewhat unusual, with one user writing in the comments under the trailer: “I have been a German Schumacher fan since 1998 and have never in my life heard anyone call him ‘Kaiser’.”
Bulgarian director Lubo Marinov himself says of the short film: “For me, this is more than just a movie. It is a project of the heart – the basis for a future feature film that tells this story in all its cinematic breadth.“
”At the end of this film, the audience should not only understand Michael Schumacher – they should feel like they are him,” he explains. Fans have the opportunity to support the project with monetary donations.
