Media: Fury – Usyk in February in Riyadh

The highly anticipated boxing showdown for the heavyweight crown between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usyk is set to take place in Riyadh in February.

The highly anticipated boxing showdown for the undisputed heavyweight crown between Tyson Fury (35) and Alexander Usyk (36) is set to take place in Riyadh in February. This reports ESPN with reference to appropriate sources. Most recently, December 23 was traded as the date for the fight, on which both sides had agreed contractually.

Since Fury had surprisingly struggled in his exhibition fight last Saturday against MMA star Francis Ngannou, it had already been speculated that the Usyk fight could be moved to the new year. Fury had won the duel with boxing novice Ngannou on a split judges’ decision, but was knocked down in the third round.

Fury’s world title according to the version of the WBC federation had not been at stake against Ngannou. Meanwhile, the Briton (35 fights, 34 wins, one draw) wants to crown himself the undisputed world champion against Ukrainian WBA, WBO and IBF champion Usyk (21 fights, 21 wins). The last time his compatriot Lennox Lewis had achieved this status was in 1999. At that time, the holder of the WBA, WBC, and IBF belt was considered undisputed.
