Marc Marquez in Austin: MotoGP stars and their favorite tracks

Marc Marquez is the king of the Circuit of the Americas, but other MotoGP stars also have their own personal showpiece tracks – who dominated where?

When MotoGP makes a guest appearance in Austin, one name automatically comes to mind: Marc Marquez. The Spaniard is the undisputed king of the Circuit of the Americas – a track made for his aggressive, precise riding style.

No other rider has dominated a racetrack like Marquez in Texas. But it is precisely this fact that raises an exciting question: Which riders have actually shaped MotoGP history on which tracks since 2002?

Our photo series explores this question and shows how closely some legends are associated with very specific circuits. Because it’s not just titles and overall statistics that define great careers, but also these very special favorite tracks. Places where everything fits together: Bike, riding style and a feel for every corner.

Rossi and Stoner represented several times

In the case of Marc Marquez, this is not only Austin, but also the Sachsenring, where he holds the record for the most victories on one track with nine MotoGP wins.

Lightly behind him is Valentino Rossi with his successes in Assen (8 wins). Despite his retirement at the end of 2021, the Italian is still the track king at various circuits, including Mugello, Jerez and Barcelona (6 wins each).

Casey Stoner is also on the list: The Australian regularly hit top form at his home Grand Prix on Phillip Island. Such connections between rider and track are no coincidence. They are the result of years of experience, confidence in the material and an almost intuitive harmony with the respective layout.

This is why it is worth taking a look at these track specialists. Because while the field changes year after year, some constants remain: Riders who always become particularly dangerous when they reach “their” track.

In the photo gallery, we have considered all the current circuits on the MotoGP calendar and summarized the riders with the most victories in the modern MotoGP era.

In addition to tracks that have been firmly in the hands of a single rider for years, there are also those where no clear favorite has emerged, as well as young tracks that have yet to find their dominator in the coming years.
