Losilla’s premonition and Gamboa’s “dream”

Although VfL Bochum once again fell behind early against Bayern, Anthony Losilla had a premonition that things might be different this time – and he was to be proved right.

0:7 VfL Bochum went down in the first leg against FC Bayern München. Despite a lively start, the promoted team conceded its highest Bundesliga defeat at the time. In the return match, a duplication of events threatened, as VfL again got off to a good start, but then fell behind early on. This time, however, Thomas Reis’ team did not disintegrate into its individual parts, but turned up the heat and gave the record champions four goals by the break, some of which were worth watching.

Losilla’s premonition

Captain and returnee (after Corona infection) Anthony Losilla had a premonition “relatively early on” that something could go against the seemingly overpowering opponents on this matchday 22, as he revealed on “Sky” after the game. His team had the right grip and then “all of a sudden everything worked out”.

With two dream goals from Cristian Gamboa and Gerrit Holtmann, the team went into the dressing room with a clear 4:1 lead. For Gamboa, it was “a dream” to score his first Bundesliga goal against Bayern. The full-back, who was celebrated by the 8,500 spectators with chants after his substitution, was not torn from this dream in the second half either and drove his team to their sixth home victory of the season.

“There are days like this when Bayern are perhaps up for grabs – today was one of those days,” was how coach Thomas Reis summed up this special 4-2 victory.
