Kai Havertz is facing another long spell on the sidelines. According to a media report from England, the German international has injured his knee.
It would be another bitter setback for Kai Havertz—and Arsenal. The German international, who suffered a hamstring injury in February and missed almost the entire final phase of last season as a result, is once again facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
According to The Athletic, Havertz is currently sidelined with a knee injury. The 26-year-old did not take part in public training at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday morning. The investigations are reportedly still in the early stages, so the prognosis for the injury and the length of the break are still unclear.
Havertz actually looked extremely fit in the run-up to the recently started Premier League season and seemed to have gained a lot of physical strength during his time out, but had already had to sit out briefly due to discomfort.
Thinly staffed center forward position
With the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres, the former Leverkusen player has gained some notable competition. Havertz came on for the Swede after an hour in the season opener against Manchester United (1-0).
However, apart from Gyökeres and Havertz, Arsenal are thinly equipped in attack, especially as Gabriel Jesus is still in rehabilitation after his cruciate ligament injury and will not be an option in the near future. Another long absence for Havertz would therefore hit the Gunners hard and possibly force them to become active in the transfer market again.
An injury to Havertz would also be a bitter blow for national coach Julian Nagelsmann, who had been counting on the striker for the international matches against Slovakia and Northern Ireland at the beginning of September.
