Kabayel set for comeback in Germany

Agit Kabayel is set to return to the ring in his home country. He last boxed in Germany in 2023.

German heavyweight boxer Agit Kabayel is set to return to the ring in his home country. According to the Bild newspaper, the 33-year-old is set to make his comeback in Germany in Oberhausen at the beginning of next year, although his opponent for the fight has not yet been confirmed. According to media reports, however, it will be a top ten athlete from one of the four major world associations.

Kabayel, who has held the WBC interim world title since February, last boxed in Germany in 2023, when he defeated Agron Smakici in his hometown of Bochum. For several months now, Kabayel has been hoping for a fight against Ukrainian heavyweight boxing world champion Alexander Usyk. As interim champion, he has at least theoretically earned the right to a title fight. According to Bild, DAZN has secured the rights to the event, which will take place on January 10, 2026.
