Jack Miller: “Yes, I’m giving up money to stay in MotoGP.”

Despite lucrative offers from the Superbike World Championship, Jack Miller is staying with Pramac-Yamaha. “There’s nothing like these MotoGP bikes,” he explains.

“Very, very happy!” That’s how Jack Miller described his contract extension with Pramac-Yamaha in an initial reaction on Thursday in Barcelona. Just a few hours earlier, Yamaha had officially confirmed him for 2026.

“I can’t explain how happy I am to remain part of this project. I believe 100 percent in this project, in what the new bike will bring and the effect it will have,“ he says. For him, it is something special to be able to help shape the development and make his contribution.

He doesn’t want to talk about a weight being lifted from his shoulders, but: ”In a way, yes. I wanted to stay here, I wanted to be competitive here.”

“This year, I wasn’t able to ride at the front as consistently as I would have liked,” admits the 30-year-old. “But we showed that we can be fast when the circumstances are right. I’m looking forward to hopefully being able to fight with the top riders more regularly in the near future.”

Lucrative Superbike offers turned down

Miller openly confirms that he had offers from other racing series: “Yes, there were very good and competitive opportunities in other championships.”

Nevertheless, he made a conscious decision not to switch. “I believe in this project. And above all, I love riding a MotoGP bike. I enjoy competing against the best riders on the best machines,” said the Australian.

Miller speaks respectfully but also clearly about the Superbike World Championship. “I love Superbike, I really enjoy watching it. But it’s not a MotoGP bike. It’s not as fast, it doesn’t brake as hard. You could talk forever about what a MotoGP bike can do. But in the end, it’s the feeling of riding these monsters against these other crazy guys that excites me,” he enthuses.

When asked, Miller simply confirms with a yes that he is even willing to forego money for this dream. According to reports, both BMW and Honda were interested in luring Miller to the Superbike World Championship. But in the end, he stayed with Pramac, partly because Diogo Moreira turned down Yamaha.

Early praise for new teammate

Another exciting aspect of Miller’s future with the team will be the new constellation from 2026: he will share the pit with Toprak Razgatlioglu from the Superbike World Championship.

“That will be interesting. He is an incredibly talented rider, and for the first time in my career, I have someone next to me who can do a better stoppie than me. That’s disappointing,“ Miller jokes about his teammate.

But joking aside, ”Toprak is a great guy. Every interaction with him has been positive. He’s always found the time to say hello. That says a lot about his character.”

In the end, however, only one thing matters to Miller: making the most of the rest of this season. “Now it’s time to work, test as much as we can, get the most out of the current package – and then go full throttle with the new bike.”
