It’s been less than a week since Bayern Munich’s DFB-Pokal victory, and plans for the summer are already finalized at Säbener Straße. In addition to an Asian tour, the Munich team is also aiming for the first title of the new season.
Just five days after their 3-0 cup victory over Stuttgart, the record champions are already making plans for the upcoming season. The now-finalized summer schedule leaves little time for a breather. Just one day after the World Cup final, on July 20, the first Bayern players will begin preseason training.
However, coach Vincent Kompany will still be without numerous national team players and will have to work with a very slim squad. In addition to the seven German World Cup players, Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise will be representing France. Harry Kane, Konrad Laimer, Josip Stanisic, Luis Diaz, Alphonso Davies, Min-Jae Kim, Hiroki Ito, and Bara Sapoko Ndiaye are also expected to don their respective national team jerseys.
Trips to Lake Tegernsee and Asia
Following the mandatory medical examinations and performance diagnostics, the first friendly match is already scheduled for July 25. Starting at 3:30 p.m., the FCB pros will face SV Wehen Wiesbaden. This will be followed by a training camp at Lake Tegernsee from July 27 to 30. In addition to public training sessions, the Munich squad will also face local club FC Rottach-Egern in a final test match.
Bayern will hit the road again as early as August 1. As part of the tenth Audi Summer Tour, the FCB will visit the South Korean island of Jeju and Hong Kong to raise their profile and further establish their presence in the Asian market. The tour runs through August 8 and includes two additional friendly matches. While Bayern will face Jeju SK FC on August 4, they will take on Freiburg-beaters Aston Villa three days later at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium. For one player, this trip is particularly special: Min-Jae Kim is returning to his home country of South Korea.
Borussia Dortmund follows RB Leipzig
Bayern will then wrap up their summer preparations on home turf. On August 15, the FCB will host RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena for the Telekom Cup. The first competitive match of the new season won’t be long in coming. In the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup, the Munich side will face Borussia Dortmund following their cup victory. The first title of the new season will be decided on August 22 at 8:30 p.m.
The following weekend (August 28–30), the ball will roll again in the Bundesliga.
