Hummels out again – DFB team likely to be without Gosens

On Friday, Hansi Flick will announce the DFB squad for the next two international matches. There will inevitably be changes.

The start under Hansi Flick has been successful with three wins in three World Cup qualifying matches without conceding a goal, next week Friday (8.10.) it continues in Hamburg against Romania and then in Skopje against North Macedonia (11.10.).

The squad of the former Bayern coach will look mostly the same as last time, but isolated changes are inevitable. Ilkay Gündogan (thigh injury) and Mahmoud Dahoud (strained inner ligament) will be missing, as will Robin Gosens in all likelihood.

The left-back suffered an early and possibly serious thigh injury in the Champions League match against Bern (1:0) on Wednesday evening and is also suffering from pain in the back of his knee. After only ten minutes, Gosens was stretchered off the pitch in tears; an exact diagnosis is still pending.

In goal, meanwhile, Marc-André ter Stegen will return after knee surgery and replace Kevin Trapp in the squad. Last-minute debutants such as David Raum (Hoffenheim) or shooting star Karim Adeyemi (Salzburg) can probably look forward to playing again.
