Former teammates Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels, and Yann Sommer are looking to invest in the Portuguese first-division club Estrela Amadora. Talks are underway.
Johannes Mösmang, who currently serves as a player-manager at FC Bayern Munich, has been the driving force behind the investment in Amadora. The 35-year-old would leave Bayern if negotiations are successful to join the Portuguese club’s management. Müller, Hummels, and Sommer are expected to play primarily a strategic role, while other investors will cover the bulk of the financial investment. Reports from BILD align with information from kicker.
Estrela Amadora has already attracted attention in Germany in the past when the club signed four players from the German 3. Liga during the winter break of the previous season. One transfer in particular made a big splash: In the summer of 2025, Sidny Lopes Cabral moved from Viktoria Köln to Amadora on a free transfer; six months later, Benfica secured the 23-year-old’s services for six million euros. At the upcoming World Cup, the Dutch-born player will represent Cape Verde.
Last season, Estrela Amadora narrowly avoided relegation; on the final matchday, thanks to a 2-2 draw against Europa League semifinalist SC Braga, the team managed to stay up only on goal difference. In the future, the club from a suburb of Lisbon is likely to set its sights on higher goals.
