With EA SPORTS FC 26, the developer is clearly taking a different approach. They want to listen more to the community. Will there also be a change in pricing?
With the official reveal trailer for FC 26, developer EA SPORTS has kicked off the warm-up for the new season. The kickoff is on September 19—at least for those who purchase the Ultimate Edition. Those who choose the Standard Edition will get started a week later.
This means that, as in previous years, the game will be released in two versions. The key difference is early access – and the price. If you want to get started seven days earlier, you’ll need to order the Ultimate Edition. This costs $110 on PlayStation and Xbox, $100 for PC, and $80 (Switch 1) or $90 (Switch 2).
The regular version costs €80 on PlayStation and Xbox, and €70 on PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s old console will cost €60.
Are there any discounts?
A pre-order discount is only available to EA Play subscribers: They receive a ten percent discount – for example, €99 for the Ultimate Edition and €72 for the Standard Edition (PlayStation and Xbox).
However, EA Play is a paid service. Membership costs €6 per month or €40 per year, so this amount would have to be deducted from the discount.
Those who are patient may save money later: Regular discount promotions are expected in the weeks following the release, for example around Halloween or Black Friday in November at the latest. Discounts of up to 25 percent are realistic. Earlier offers are also possible, depending on the platform.
EA SPORTS has kicked off a wave of euphoria with the reveal trailer, as the developer wants to respond more to the wishes of the community. The company has undoubtedly gotten off to a good start. Whether there is really something behind it or whether it is “just a few moving pictures and words,” as streamer Mirza Jahic put it, remains to be seen.
