“He’s my man”: Finally certainty for promotion coach Farke

Despite promotion, it was unclear whether Daniel Farke would remain Leeds United’s coach for the coming season. Now the German coach has certainty.

It was already clear that Leeds United would be playing in the Premier League again in 2025/26. Nevertheless, persistent rumors of a change of coach dampened the mood in northern England. It was said that not everyone in the club’s management was convinced that Farke would be the right coach for United in the Premier League.

The background to this is that Farke has only averaged 0.53 points in 49 games in England’s top flight, all with Norwich City. In 2019, the Canaries were promoted to the Premier League under the East Westphalian-born coach, but were immediately relegated again as the bottom club with no chance of survival. In Leeds, many feared that the coming season could turn out similarly. Club boss Paraag Marathe therefore traveled from San Francisco to take matters into his own hands.

Marathe announces investments

After the 2-1 win at Plymouth Argyle and the subsequent confirmation of the second division championship, Marathe has now provided clarity. Farke, whose contract still has two years to run, continues to have his full support and he is very much looking forward to “working with Daniel,” said the 47-year-old, who knows how difficult the task ahead will be. “I’m under no illusions that it will be easy. In the last two seasons, the three promoted teams have been relegated straight back down.”

However, Marathe also said that Leeds had something that the other clubs did not have. “Above all, we have Daniel Farke.” When asked whether there was now clarity about the manager’s future, the club boss replied: “I have put an end to the speculation, he is my man.”

To ensure that Leeds can be competitive in the coming season, Marathe announced that “we will work together to build the best possible team and use every cent we are allowed to spend to be competitive in the Premier League.”
