“Hanging point or forward”: Waldhof looking for offensive reinforcements

In the fight for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga, SV Waldhof are looking to strengthen themselves once again in the winter transfer period.

“We are generally looking for the offensive, because we want to be even more flexible on both outside positions and up front,” said coach Patrick Glöckner in an interview with the “Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung” (Monday). “It would be important to have more options from the bench. That could be a loose forward or a striker, depending on what’s on the market.”

The Kurpfälzer currently occupy fourth place in the third division standings – two points behind second-placed Eintracht Braunschweig and third-placed SV Meppen.

“Expectations met and partly exceeded “

“I think that we have met and partly exceeded all expectations,” is Glöckner’s assessment. 34 points and fourth place are a starting position that is “very good for us”, the coach continues, who also highlights his team’s style of play: “The way we play football is fun. It’s something you enjoy watching and it’s effective. “

However, with an eye on the strength of the competition in the fight for promotion, he said they must “continue to put in our performance in every game and hope that we come through the second half of the season similarly well in terms of injuries.”

After the short winter break, SV Waldhof will continue their campaign on Monday, 17 January with a home match at the Carl-Benz Stadium against Borussia Dortmund II, who are promoted and seventh in the league. The first-round match ended 1-1 at the end of July.
