Jan-Lennard Struff was eliminated in the round of 16 at Kitzbühel. Things went better for Yannick Hanfmann.
Yannick Hanfmann continues his successful run at the ATP tournament in Kitzbühel. The 34-year-old from Karlsruhe advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Argentine Marco Trungelliti.
Jan-Lennard Struff, on the other hand, had an off day. The seasoned tennis pro from Warstein was eliminated in the round of 16 after a long, erratic performance. The Wimbledon quarterfinalist lost to Trungelliti’s compatriot Mariano Navone 0-6, 3-6 and was knocked out of the clay-court tournament in Austria earlier than he had hoped. Daniel Altmaier also failed to advance to the next round.

Over the course of the match, Hanfmann was the better player in the key statistics and earned his victory. He showed more power on both his serve and his return and is now hoping for more in his upcoming match against Sebastián Baez—the next Argentine opponent.
Struff (36) couldn’t get a foothold against the confident Navone in the first set. His double fault that cost him the set was almost symbolic. Then the powerful athlete took a short break and tried to turn the tide with his usual positive body language. However, Struff let Navone pull ahead to 0–4 again before fighting back with two breaks. In the end, though, it wasn’t enough.
Altmaier (Kempen) lost to Slovakian Alex Molcan 3–6, 6–3, 5–7. Altmaier had already been eliminated by Molcan in the first round of the Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon.
