Golden Shoe: Mbappé gains ground – Guirassy flirts with the top 10

Double strike from Kylian Mbappé, double strike from Serhou Guirassy: Last weekend, the two strikers continued to climb the Golden Shoe rankings. The Real Madrid star is now aiming for the top 3, while Guirassy is at least in the top 10. There are no changes at the top.

As in the previous week, Viktor Gyökeres leads the way among the top scorers in the European leagues. He scored four goals last week, but neither he nor his closest rivals Mohamed Salah (no goals in the 1-3 defeat at Chelsea) or Robert Lewandowski (still out with injury) were able to catch up last weekend.

Instead, Kylian Mbappé stepped up to put pressure on the top three. The 26-year-old scored twice for Real Madrid against Celta Vigo on Sunday to put his side on course for victory in what was a tight game. This moved him up from sixth to fourth in the Golden Boot rankings, where he now shares fourth place with Harry Kane and Mateo Retegui. Neither of them were successful at the weekend, with Kane serving a yellow card suspension.

The trio are just two points and one goal behind Lewandowski and the top three. Salah is eight points ahead and Gyökeres nine. Mbappé and Co. will have to step up their game in the final stretch of the season if they want to challenge for the top spot, but the battle for third place promises to be exciting.

Guirassy moves into the top 10

The same applies to the battle for the top 10: Serhou Guirassy also scored twice in BVB’s 4-0 win over Wolfsburg, jumping to joint 12th place, where Patrik Schick has been since last week. With 19 goals this season, Guirassy is now only four points or two goals behind the top 10 – with two Bundesliga games remaining, another jump for the 29-year-old is definitely possible.

Tim Kleindienst and Jonathan Burkardt also got on the scoresheet in the Bundesliga at the weekend, each scoring once to move into joint 23rd place with 16 goals (32 points) for the season.
