Girona F.C. vs Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Team Previews, Start Time and More

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. team preview

An argument can be made that Tottenham Hotspur has been the club most affected by the 2018 World Cup, as nine members of the first-team roster are still away from the team. Nevertheless, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has had a successful pre-season in which youngsters such as Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Kyle Walker-Peters, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Luke Amos have combined with Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min, Davinson Sanchez and Lucas Moura for wins against Roma (4-1) and AC Milan (1-0), and a narrow penalty shootout loss to Barcelona (2-2 in regular time).

All nine of those missing Spurs players played in the semi-finals in Russia and won’t return to the club until Monday. This match against Girona is the last chance for some of the youngsters to impress. Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Josh Onomah have not travelled with the squad, while a decision on Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela will be made following today’s practice session.

Girona F.C. team preview

Girona’s pre-season has gone relatively smoothly. The Catalan club drew with Bolton (0-0) before smashing Melbourne City (6-0) and defeating Sabadell (1-0). The miniature club was one of the surprises in European football last season, managing to not only survive its first season in LaLiga but also remaining in contention for a Europa League spot until the very end. They will try to make it hard on a depleted Tottenham squad and could pull off an upset if taken lightly.

The game will be played on Saturday (tomorrow) at Girona’s Estadi Montilivi at 20:00 CET.

Tottenham Hotspur’s quiet transfer window

Pochettino is obviously satisfied with the team he’s got, as The Spurs haven’t made a single move on the transfer market. Nice’s Alassane Plea was thought to be on his way to England but surprisingly opted to move to Borussia Monchengladbach in search for regular playing time. Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish is still on Tottenham’s wish list. However, unless the Championship side reduces the asking price, a deal will likely not come to life. Toby Aiderweireld, Moussa Dembele, Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko have all been mentioned in transfer rumours at one point or another. They are all equally likely to stay as they are to leave the North London side.
