Frankfurt’s talented goalkeeper Ramming moves to Brighton

From the Hessenliga to the Premier League 2: Talented goalkeeper Nils Ramming is leaving Eintracht Frankfurt’s U21 team to join Brighton & Hove Albion.

Nils Ramming will leave Eintracht Frankfurt after six years and move to Brighton & Hove Albion on the south coast of England. The Bundesliga club and the Premier League club have agreed on a transfer for the 18-year-old goalkeeper, who moved from Hessen Dreieich to Frankfurt in 2019. Ramming, who was born in London and has both Swedish and German citizenship, will initially also play for the U-21 team on the island.

Swedish U-national player

Shannon Ruth, England’s U-21 coach, said of the move: “Nils is a talented young goalkeeper who has international youth experience with Sweden and was a regular in Eintracht’s reserve team last season. We are excited about Nils’ potential and look forward to developing him further through our development program.”

Ramming played in 30 Regionalliga matches for the Jungadler last season, but despite keeping eleven clean sheets, he was unable to prevent the Hessian Bundesliga reserve team from being relegated from the Southwest division. The young keeper was also named in the squad for the professional team’s Europa League matches four times (without playing). He has made seven appearances for Swedish youth national teams to date.

At Brighton & Hove Albion, Ramming, who signed a contract until June 2030, will join German Premier League head coach Fabian Hürzeler and U-21 international Brajan Gruda, both of whom have been with the club since summer 2024.
