Frankfurt also lose in Bamberg and stagger towards relegation

The former champions Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt are staggering towards relegation in the BBL. The Hessians narrowly lost 72-75 (37-50) at Brose Bamberg on Sunday, their 21st defeat of the season. The non-relegation places are three wins away.

Because Basketball Löwen Braunschweig (101:64 against BG Göttingen), s.oliver Würzburg (81:71 against Niners Chemnitz) and EWE Baskets Oldenburg (106:75 against FC Bayern) all won this weekend, Frankfurt’s starting position in the relegation battle has deteriorated further.

The best scorers for Frankfurt in the defeat in Franconia were Marcel Ponitka with 19 points and Will Cherry with 15 points. Chris Dowe scored 21 points for Bamberg. In addition to the Skyliners, the Giessen 46ers, with only six wins and 19 losses, are also threatened with relegation to the second division.
