Former Bundesliga player Kremer passes away

The Bundesliga mourns the death of Willibert Kremer. As Viktoria Köln announced, the former Bundesliga player and coach passed away at the age of 82.

For Hertha BSC and MSV Duisburg, Kremer played a total of 119 games in the Bundesliga, scoring ten goals. As a coach, he reached the Cup final with Duisburg in 1975, but his team lost 0:1 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Four years later he led Bayer Leverkusen into the Bundesliga. In his 20-year coaching career, he was also responsible for 1860 Munich (1982). Fortuna Düsseldorf (1982-1985) and Eintracht Braunschweig (1985/86).

Breakthrough in Cologne

He made his breakthrough as a player with a brief stopover at Borussia Mönchengladbach with Viktoria Köln. Under Hennes Weisweiler, he recommended himself for higher tasks in the Oberliga West.

“We are deeply saddened to learn that our former player Willibert Kremer has passed away. He was always an idol for Viktoria and left his mark on the club on and off the pitch,” said Viktoria president Günter Pütz after the death of the honorary member.
