Ferrari’s New Livery Revealed Ahead of Japanese Grand Prix

Japanesse

The famous red and white color scheme is still highly prominent but Ferrari’s new livery now includes logos representing the main sponsor Philip Morris’ Mission Winnow on the F1 cars.

Due to regulations around tobacco sponsorship in F1, Philip Morris has not been able to advertise their products for several years. Mission Winnow is a global project that has been set up to drive engagement with science, technology, and innovation across many industries. The Chief Executive office of PMI Andre Calantzopoulos said:

“Through Mission Winnow we want to let the world know how we have changed, to share our pride in the transformation that the people of PMI have achieved, as well as our dedication to rigorous science and innovation that can lead to a better future.”

PMI was respectful of the car to leave it red

Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene thinks the new livery works really well in regards to the partnership between the two companies:

“They were respectful of the red of the car, they left the car absolutely red.”

“The reason why is simple: they said they are not in a hurry, our company’s changing, we are moving, launching a new mission.”

“What we are doing is simple, Ferrari and Philip Morris just striving for the better, striving for a better internal performance, for researching day after day to learn from mistakes and go forward, to perform.”

Arrivabene – You need to be able to learn

“You can say ‘OK but guys you are not winning [the championship] yet’ – yes, but are we learning.”

“To be able to win in the future you need to be able to learn.”

Japan GP starts this weekend

The F1 calendar heads to the Suzuka Circuit for the Japanese GP this weekend, with Ferrari cars showing the new livery off for the first time. Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were at the unveiling that took place ahead of the GP in Japan.

Vettel will be hoping that the new livery will bring him a bit of luck, knowing that he now trails Hamilton by 50 points in the drivers’ standings. Ferrari sits 53 points behind Mercedes in the constructors’ standings and with just five races left this year, Ferrari will need to get some very good results if they are going to oust Mercedes. If they do not manage to do that then at least they know that it is all part of the learning process.
