Featuring Wanner and Chukwuemeka: Here’s Rangnick’s Squad for the March International Friendlies

Head coach Ralf Rangnick has announced his first squad of the World Cup year. The roster includes Paul Wanner and Carney Chukwuemeka, who are now eligible to play for the ÖFB following their change of nationality. Austria will face Ghana and South Korea in late March.
About three months before the opening match of the 2026 World Cup, ÖFB head coach Ralf Rangnick has announced his squad for the pivotal March international matches against Ghana and South Korea. Unsurprisingly, the squad also includes Paul Wanner and Carney Chukwuemeka, who recently decided to switch national teams.
Florian Wiegele and David Affengruber are also making their first appearances. The head coach has named a total of 28 players (24 outfielders and 4 goalkeepers). However, Rangnick said appearances by David Alaba and Maximilian Wöber are unlikely. Sasa Kalajdzic is also back in the squad.

Austria will first face Ghana on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium; four days later, on March 31, the red-white-red squad will host South Korea.
