Superstar LeBron James has some positive news: his left knee injury seems to be healing well. On the Mind the Game podcast, he spoke openly about his rehabilitation progress and gave fans hope.
LeBron James’ season came to an early end in the fifth game of the first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves: a medial ligament sprain in his left knee forced the Lakers star to take a break – and possibly end his season prematurely. Now the 40-year-old has given an update on his recovery, and it sounds promising.
“Did you see me hobble in here?” LeBron joked in conversation with co-host Steve Nash on the Mind The Game podcast. ”I’m feeling much better. It’s getting there.”
For LeBron, it was the first serious knee injury of his career, and that in his 22nd NBA year. But instead of dwelling on it, the four-time MVP is showing his fighting spirit.
Next season: Year 23 and focus on load management
LeBron will turn 41 in December and is now preparing for his 23rd NBA season. It has long been clear that injury prevention and load management will play a greater role. Nevertheless, James remains one of the best players in the league. Last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds.
His future with the Los Angeles Lakers remains exciting: LeBron holds a player option for the 2025/26 season. Whether he stays, extends his contract, or renegotiates is still up in the air.
Right now, the superstar has one main focus: getting completely fit. If his recovery continues to progress so positively, LeBron will once again be a decisive factor in the NBA title race in his 23rd year.
