Everton Facing Injury Crisis Ahead of West Ham Match

Everton Facing West Ham English Premier League

Marco Silva has not had much luck with injuries to start his managerial career at Everton. New signing Yerry Mina is yet to feature for the Toffees, whilst Andre Gomes, James McCarthy, Phil Jagielka, Idrissa Gueye, Theo Walcott and Michael Keane have been struggling with injuries too. The international break added more frustration, with Seamus Coleman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin picking up injuries whilst on international duties.

Youngsters drafted into the Everton team

Everton faces West Ham on Sunday afternoon and could be forced to field a significantly weakened side. Youngster Jonjoe Kenny is in line to replace Coleman and they are likely to play Zouma and Holgate in the centre of defence.

Schneiderlin should be keeping his place in midfield, alongside Tom Davies, who has some way to go to prove he is worthy of a regular starting spot. Gylfi Sigurdsson will no doubt be pleased to get back from international duty, where his Iceland team lost  3-0 to Belgium and 6-0 to Switzerland. He should be fit to start the match in the attacking midfield role.

Everton look very short of options up front if Walcott doesn’t make it back in time and Silva may be tempted to throw Bernard into the mix for his first start for Everton. There could be an opportunity for young Kieran Dowell to try and impress the manager, or at least claim a place on the bench.

West Ham team news

Everton may be able to take comfort in the fact that they are playing a team that has suffered four defeats on the bounce. Manuel Pellegrini’s start at the club has not been an enjoyable one so far and the Hammers will be looking to change their fortunes at Goodison Park on Sunday. Andriy Yarmolenko looks likely to be on the bench again for West Ham, with Snodgrass, Antonio and Anderson expected to line up behind Arnautovic.
