Even without butterflies: Glasner’s good feeling about Kostic

Weeks ago, rumours about Filip Kostic’s transfer were rife – as they have been every summer since the 29-year-old joined Eintracht. For a long time, Juventus Turin were considered to be the hottest bet. Coach Oliver Glasner, however, remains confident that the left winger will stay. He confirmed this once again on Thursday evening.

At the press conference after the Europa League final against Rangers, Glasner exuded confidence that Kostic would remain at Eintracht. This optimism has not changed to this day, despite all the transfer rumours that have arisen.

“That’s not my feeling because I have butterflies in my stomach, with me a feeling develops from conversations and perceptions. I am in exchange with Filip every now and then, we were on holiday as well. My feeling has only been confirmed,” said Glasner after the afternoon training in Windischgarsten.

Kostic feels “very, very comfortable” in Frankfurt and at Eintracht, the coach reported. “He was Europa League winner with us and the player of the season in the Europa League. Filip appreciates that immensely. He knows what status he has in Frankfurt and with the fans. He has also been through difficult times – and not forgotten them. My feeling is based on many such stories,” said Glasner.

The coach continued: “I only give my sporting opinion and never talk about economic issues because they are not mine. But I gave him advice from my point of view and said: ‘If you stay at Eintracht, you will have a hot meal three times a day.'”

Even when Kostic wanted to force a move to Lazio Rome a year ago, he told him his sporting assessment: “But then I don’t speak to him as an Eintracht coach to an Eintracht player, but as a human being Oliver Glasner to a human being Filip Kostic. “

Of course, Glasner cannot rule out the possibility of the left-winger leaving. “Maybe he’ll get a Cristiano Ronaldo offer from Saudi Arabia. If that’s the case, then the next five generations will also eat hot food three times a day. Since I don’t know, I can’t rule anything out. But my feeling is that he will play several more games for Eintracht.”
