Eleven games, no wins: Galaxy loses again in Kansas City

MLS champion Los Angeles Galaxy remains deep in crisis. Marco Reus and his teammates also came away empty-handed at Sporting Kansas City.

The Galaxy’s eleventh attempt to secure a victory in the MLS also ended in failure. The Californians suffered their eighth defeat at Sporting Kansas City and remain bottom of the Western Conference with three points. Significantly, the 0-1 defeat came about through an own goal by former Schalke player Maya Yoshida in the 13th minute.

Only CF Montreal has the same poor record in the league, but as the bottom team in the East, they have a slightly better goal difference.

Marco Reus, who had already missed five league games this season due to a knee injury, was in the starting line-up against Kansas City. Former Bundesliga pros Tim Leibold and Erik Thommy came off the bench for Sporting, who climbed to 12th place in the West with their third win.

Wolf team picks up important three points

In the Eastern Conference clash between two of the chasing pack, New York City FC picked up three important points with a 1-0 win over third-placed FC Cincinnati to climb into a playoff spot. The goal for the team led by former Gladbach player Hannes Wolf was scored by Argentine Julian Fernandez in the 9th minute.

After the 11th matchday, Columbus Crew remain top of the Eastern Conference after beating Charlotte FC 4-2 at home, while Vancouver Whitecaps remain top of the Western Conference after beating Real Salt Lake 2-1 at home.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami won their home game against the New York Red Bulls 4-1.
