Following her second-round exit at the US Open, professional tennis player Tatjana Maria has been knocked out at the first hurdle in Guadalajara, Mexico. The 39-year-old from Bad Saulgau lost to American Taylor Townsend at the WTA tournament 7–6 (7–0), 3–6, 2–6.
Maria, who had most recently lost to Nikola Bartunkova (Czech Republic) at the Grand Slam in Flushing Meadows following a victory over Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia), was the only German player in Guadalajara.
