Dwight Howard Just Keeps Moving – Wizards are his Fourth Team in Four Years

Dwight Howard Wizards

For some reason, things just haven’t panned out too well for Dwight Howard at the list of teams he has already played for. He is certainly well-travelled; having already played his basketball in LA, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte and has now arrived in Washington.

Howard provides good entertainment in news conferences

He has become a character as well known for his conference charm as he is for his basketball talent. His latest news conference caught the imagination again, with his funny description of his NBA journey:

“I learned Magic for eight years. Travelled to La La Land. Learned how to work with Rockets. And then I went and learned how to fly with some Hawks. Got stung by the Hornets. Just a joke. But through all of that, it’s taught me how to be a Wizard.”

He knows how to entertain in the news conferences, probably because he is so used to being there to discuss his latest team move. In Orlando, things had looked very promising for Howard’s career, they were winning and went so close to the championship in 2009. He wasn’t to know at the time but that would turn out to be the closest he would get for the next nine years.

Personality clashes with other stars

Howard has rightly or wrongly grown a reputation for being a player that does not mix well with teammates. He is said to have had a strained relationship with Kobe Bryant, which meant Howard would be the one to move on. His ‘joke’ about getting stung by the Hornets is probably not so much of a joke and more of a genuine description of how he perceives his time there.

Will Washington finally be the place that this NBA journeyman settles in and starts to show the promise that the previous teams saw enough of to take the gamble on him?
