Playground Games had to disable “The Eliminator” mode in Forza Horizon 6. The reason is a glitch that promised to boost the maximum account balance in no time.
A look at the numbers shows that Forza Horizon 6 has become a true bestseller in no time. Just recently, the racing game surpassed the ten-million-player mark. However, the development team at Playground Games has little time to celebrate, as technical issues continue to make headlines.
Most recently, a bug made the rounds that could cause save data to be lost—for example, if the game was closed improperly or when using Quick Resume. A patch has since been released to address this. Now, however, a credit exploit in “The Eliminator” mode is causing a stir.
Maximum account balance in seconds
In this battle royale mode, up to 72 players compete against each other until only one winner remains. The gameplay is already familiar from Forza Horizon 4 and 5.
In the latest installment, however, players were able to exploit a bug: Anyone who put a GMC Hummer EV into a specific glitchy state and then started “The Eliminator” could easily earn up to 999,999,999 credits. That’s the maximum account balance the game allows.
McLaren for all players
Playground Games saw this as a threat to the game’s economic balance and confirmed in an official support notice that affected accounts were automatically reviewed and reset to a maximum of ten million credits. The studio will not take any further action, “since the error was on our end,” according to a post on the support website.
However, the community won’t be left entirely without compensation. Since “The Eliminator” had to be temporarily disabled over the weekend, Playground Games is distributing a gift to all players.
“As a gesture of goodwill and to make up for the inconvenience, we’re giving all Forza Horizon 6 players the 2021 McLaren Sabre,” the studio announced. It’s still unclear when the mode will be reactivated.
