Novak Djokovic has chosen an old acquaintance, Viktor Troicki, as his new coach. The two won the Davis Cup together in 2010. With Troicki, he aims to win his 25th Grand Slam title.
Tennis star Novak Djokovic will be coached in the future by his former Davis Cup teammate Viktor Troicki. The Serbian record Grand Slam champion announced this on Instagram four days before the start of the French Open.
“Welcome, my friend, teammate, and now coach…,” Djokovic wrote alongside a photo of the two of them. Djokovic and Troicki won the Davis Cup with the Serbian team in 2010.
Troicki (40) ended his playing career in June 2021. He reached the round of 16 at major tournaments five times during his career (three times at the French Open, twice at Wimbledon). He is the captain of the Serbian Davis Cup team.
Djokovic aims for 25th Grand Slam title
Djokovic (38) caused a stir in early 2025 by hiring his longtime rival Andy Murray as his coach. The collaboration ended after just six months. He was subsequently coached by Serbian Boris Bosnjakovic.
Djokovic is chasing his long-awaited 25th Grand Slam title. He sees an opportunity following the injury-related withdrawal of Spanish prodigy Carlos Alcaraz from the French Open in Paris, which begins Sunday, and from the grass-court highlight at Wimbledon (starting June 29). The Serbian now competes only in select tournaments, primarily the four majors.
