DBB team without Weiler-Babb for Bulgaria

The German basketball team will have to do without an important player in the second game of the European Championship qualifiers. It remains to be seen who will replace him. A duo is possible

The German basketball team will have to do without Nick Weiler-Babb in the second game of the European Championship qualifiers. The 28-year-old guard from Bayern Munich has been ruled out for the game in Bulgaria on Sunday due to a family bereavement.

“Huge respect to Nick for agreeing to play in the first game under these circumstances,” said national coach Gordon Herbert on Thursday evening after the clear 85:61 win over Montenegro in Ludwigsburg. Weiler-Babb scored ten points in the game

Herbert has not yet decided who will replace Weiler-Babb, who missed last year’s World Cup due to injury, in the squad. The national team coach withdrew Johann Grünloh, Max DiLeo and Bennet Hundt on Thursday shortly before the game against Montenegro. The two guards DiLeo and Hundt flew from Frankfurt am Main to Sofia on Friday. Herbert will then decide on the spot which of them will be in the squad of twelve on Sunday.
