David Schumacher becomes a TV pundit: How ProSieben is positioning itself for the DTM in 2024

David Schumacher will not be competing in the DTM himself in 2024, but will be active as a TV pundit for ProSieben – How it came about and which team the broadcaster is relying on in 2024

David Schumacher will remain in the DTM in the 2024 season, but not behind the wheel, but at the microphone: The 22-year-old is part of TV partner ProSieben’s team of experts this year and will accompany the two races at the Lausitzring as a co-commentator

“I was asked by ProSieben and thought: ‘Why not, that’s a cool thing to do’,” Schumacher revealed during the DTM test drives in Hockenheim. “If I’m not driving, then at least I can talk about it in the commentary box.”

“Eddie Mielke will certainly be a lot of fun,” grins the son of ex-Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher. “I’ve known Andrea Kaiser for a long time and I’m excited to see how things go behind the scenes with all the preparations. I’m looking forward to it!”

Expert team with Rockenfeller, Götz & Co.

Schumacher was active in the DTM with Winward in 2022 and 2023 and will contest the ADAC GT Masters with HRT in 2024. He is following in the footsteps of his father, who has been a Formula 1 pundit for Sky for several years.

In addition to Schumacher, ProSieben will rely on the proven team of experts with Mike Rockenfeller, Maximilian Götz and Timo Scheider. After his premiere at the Nürburgring last year, former runner-up Nico Müller will also be back. Abt’s Formula E driver will be the DTM expert at the race on the Red Bull Ring.

“It’s often good to rely on a regular cast that you can trust and that is well-rehearsed,” says Alexander Wölffing, Head of Duty at Ran. “In principle, nothing will change from our editorial side. Andrea Kaiser and Matthias Killing will moderate, Eddie Mielke will cover almost all of our race weekends. “

Who will stand in for Eddie Mielke at the Norisring

“Mike Stiefelhagen will again take care of social media and various interviews, so we are very well positioned in that respect,” says Wölffing. “The DTM is dramatically important for us. We are entering our seventh year, which is the longest live right we have. It is one of our core topics that we look after with love and commitment. “

Microphone instead of steering wheel: Schumacher won’t be driving a DTM in 2024

DTM regular commentator Mielke will only be absent from the Norisring weekend this year because he will be commentating for Sky on the MotoGP weekend at the Sachsenring, which is taking place at the same time. His replacement is Tobias Schimon, who is also part of the Ran editorial team and has a lot of DTM experience.
