The showdown between the two former world champions, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, has been finalised following lengthy negotiations.
The long-awaited British heavyweight clash between former world champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will take place on 11 December in Cardiff. This was announced on Thursday by the Saudi boxing promoter Turki Al-Sheikh. The announcement came after months of negotiations, during which it at times even looked as though the fight might still fall through.
The showdown, which will be broadcast by the streaming service Netflix, is one of the biggest fights in British boxing history. The Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital, which has a capacity of around 80,000, has already hosted numerous major events such as the Champions League final and the FA Cup final.
Fury and Joshua share a long-standing rivalry
Fury and Joshua, who share a long-standing rivalry – although a fight between them has never materialised to date – are looking to make what may be a final bid for another title shot. Fury lost his most recent world title fight against Alexander Usyk in 2024, whilst Joshua was defeated by his compatriot Daniel Dubois in the same year.
Fury (38) most recently defeated 46-year-old Polish boxer Mariusz Wach in Thailand in July. Joshua (36) prevailed two months ago against the underdog Kristian Prenga from Albania, despite being knocked down twice in the first round.
