Danish Frank new Tottenham coach

Following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur have presented Danish coach Thomas Frank as their new head coach. He leaves Brentford FC after seven years as head coach and two as assistant coach.

The past season was more than disappointing for the Spurs, who only managed to secure 38 points in 38 league games in the Premier League and finished the season in 17th place – the worst result in the North London club’s history. Even winning the Europa League was not enough to keep coach Ange Postecoglou in his job, and after two years, it was all over for the Australian.

Tottenham has now presented a successor for Postecoglou: Thomas Frank is coming from West London and has signed a contract until 2028. The Dane spent the last nine years at Brentford FC, where he was assistant coach for around two years before becoming head coach of the “Bees” in October 2018, leading them to the Premier League for the first time in 2021.

Frank established Brentford in the Premier League – and is set to take Tottenham to Europe

The 51-year-old has since established Brentford firmly in mid-table. The club finished last season in tenth place. According to media reports, the Spurs are paying around €12 million for Frank’s services, which will go to Brentford as a transfer fee.

Assistant coaches Justin Cochrane and Chris Haslam and analyst Joe Newton are also joining from Brentford, while Andreas Georgson is joining from Manchester United.

Despite a weak Premier League season, the Spurs will compete in the Champions League in 2025/26 thanks to their victory in the Europa League, and Frank is expected to lead them back to Europe on a consistent basis.
