EA SPORTS had actually announced that it would curb the FUT madness in FC 26—the power curve was to be slowed down. However, even in early access, there are extremely expensive packs in the shop.
September 19, 7 p.m.: Angry faces on the stream of Simon “GamerBrother” Schildgen and the duo from “Tisi Schubech.” EA SPORTS had just spiced up the early access of FC 26 with new content for Football Ultimate Team (FUT) – and had gone all out. “There are promo packs, I’m scared,” ‘GamerBrother’ senses something bad when he first looks at the FUT shop.
“There are 100K packs, why? EA SPORTS, why are you ruining everything?” asks Schildgen. Simon Bechtold from ‘Tisi Schubech’ calls what the developer is offering a week before the global release “insane.” “The game isn’t even out yet and there are already five promo packs in the store,” ‘GamerBrother’ continues to criticize the content.
“Bottomless”: FUT packs for 100,000 coins
What irritates content creators most of all is that EA SPORTS had announced in the run-up to the new game that it wanted to curb the FUT madness somewhat. The so-called “power curve” would be slowed down. This means that currently strong cards should remain good and playable for longer, and not every promo should turn the meta upside down. The market would be less flooded, they said.
The fact that EA SPORTS is now offering various expensive packs with potentially outstanding starter items on the very first day of FC 26 stands in stark contrast to this. “You can shove all this power curve nonsense up your ass,” says ‘GamerBrother’ bluntly. According to Bechtold, the early inclusion of FUT packs for 100,000 coins is “bottomless.”
‘GamerBrother’ also finds a positive aspect
“They have the whole year to fill up the shop,” says Schildgen. “No one expected there to be 20 packs again for Team of the Year. But why not start in two or three weeks?” However, the content creator also found something positive: “At least they’re not starting with an event team in FUT right away, like last year.”
“Promotional packs were first introduced on Black Friday,” recalls Bechtold, thinking back to older FIFA games. Black Friday traditionally takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving, at the end of November. However, those days are long gone. Profit maximization has been the main focus in FUT for years. FC 26 seems to be no exception.
