Corona hits Real hard: Quartet around Bale tested positive

It’s not just in English football that the Corona situation is coming to a head, Real Madrid have also been hit hard. Five more people have tested positive.

Sportingly, things are going really well for Real Madrid. After 17 games, the royals are leading the Spanish championship with 42 points. In addition, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners (15 out of 18 points) – even though Paris Saint-Germain is now waiting there (“monumental rage”).

However, the Corona virus is causing more and more problems for the Spanish capital club. Only on Wednesday, Luka Modric and Marcelo tested positive. The next day, Real announced that substitute keeper Andriy Lunin, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale and Rodrygo were also infected. Ancelotti’s son and assistant Davide was also affected.

Real’s last game in the 2021 calendar year will be next Sunday, when they host FC Cadiz in the capital.
