Contract with Real Terminated: National Team Player Krämer Heads to Belgrade

David Krämer is leaving Real Madrid after one year. However, the German national team player will remain in the EuroLeague and join Red Star Belgrade.

Krämer has signed a two-year contract with Red Star; his contract with Real Madrid, which was set to run through 2027, was terminated instead. Red Star once again missed the playoffs last season, bowing out in the first play-in game for the second consecutive year.

Following point guard Chris Jones, who will replace Codi Miller-McIntyre (Olympiacos), Krämer is the second new addition for the Serbian team this summer.

Krämer Played Only a Supporting Role at Real

At Real Madrid, however, Krämer was unable to establish himself, despite a promising start. However, the 29-year-old saw less and less playing time and ultimately didn’t play at all in the EuroLeague. The national team player also watched the final foul in Athens only from the bench.

For the German national team, on the other hand, Krämer has consistently been a mainstay; the shooter now has 34 international appearances for Germany. For Real, the Slovakian-born player appeared in 47 competitive games, averaging 12.5 minutes on the court. During that time, he averaged 5.3 points and 1.7 rebounds, shooting 46 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from beyond the arc.
