Champions League Clash Preview: Bayern vs Madrid

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid:

Bayern have won eight of their ten games played in the Champions League so far, scoring 23 goals in total. Whilst Real Madrid have won seven out of the ten games they’ve played, scoring 26 goals already. Robert Lewandowski has been Bayern’s top scorer for the season so far in the Champions League with five goals out of the nine he’s played. Lewandowski has expressed his desires to go to Real Madrid to his teammates, changing his agent for this reason. He needs to make a big impact on this game to make him stand out to Real Madrid. Scoring 24 goals out of 25 games Cristiano Ronaldo has been Real Madrid’s top scorer in the La Liga. Those statistics make Ronaldo the danger-man for Bayern. He also won his last two Champions League titles with James Rodriguez, tomorrow they compete on the field against each other, putting their loyalties to one side.

Sports of the day’s verdict

On average both teams statistics aren’t so far apart this season. Aside from Real Madrid’s top scorer (Ronaldo) being way ahead of Bayern’s.

Bayern:

During the knockout stages, they have shown no lack of strength. Winning the Bundesliga title already, they are physically strong and very diverse in what they do. Very much like Real Madrid, Bayern can counter attack as well as having the ability to control the game. If David Alaba plays we feel that Bayern have the better defence of the two teams. And with Manuel Neuer, we believe that Bayern has arguably the best goalkeeper in the world. And even if Bayern are knocked out they still have the Bundesliga League to carry them, however, the Champions League is all Real Madrid have.

Real Madrid:

In terms of game structure, the focus was on Ronaldo playing effective and efficient in last year’s quarter-final. Now their manager Zinedine Zidane has asked Ronaldo to reduce the length of his runs and recently reduced his time on the pitch also. In regards to the line-up, all of Zidane’s players are in sharp form. This gives him a lot of options and possibilities.
