The new year has not been kind to Altmaier, who is still waiting for his first victory.
Professional tennis player Daniel Altmaier is still struggling to get going in the new season. The Kempen native lost decisively to local hero Juan Manuel Cerundolo 2-6, 2-6 at the ATP tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is still waiting for his first win of the new year.
Against Cerundolo, whose older brother Francisco is ranked in the top 20 in the world, Altmaier never really got into his stride during the 1 hour and 27 minute match. The 27-year-old repeatedly made numerous errors, with a total of 30 unforced errors on the scoreboard at the end.
This was the fourth defeat of the season for the world number 51, who recently suffered a heavy defeat at the Australian Open. At the tournament in the Argentine capital, which is played on clay, Altmaier was not helped by the change of surface.
