The German Boxing Association (DBV) has a new president.
Jens Hadler has resigned as president of the German Boxing Association (DBV) with immediate effect. As the association announced on Wednesday, Hadler, who was convicted in the VW diesel scandal, announced his decision at a meeting of the executive board convened at short notice.
His replacement has already been decided. Mir Farid Vatanparast was unanimously appointed as his successor. He will lead the association as co-opted president until the election congress. “I am very pleased with the unanimity with which the executive board has shown leadership here, and I am convinced that Mir Farid Vatanparast is a more than suitable successor,” said Hadler.
In its statement, the DBV praised Hadler as “an important figure who, with his ideas, has provided numerous groundbreaking impetus for the further development of the association.”
In addition, since taking up his position at the DBV, Hadler has “always communicated openly and transparently about developments in the ongoing process in Braunschweig to the state associations, the executive board, and relevant sporting institutions.” The well-being of the DBV and its reputation at national and international level have been Hadler’s “top priority.”
