Bayern and Bonn consolidate their top positions

FC Bayern München and Telekom Baskets Bonn have consolidated their status as the top teams in the Basketball Bundesliga.

The cup winners from Munich won clearly 92:70 (47:33) at promoted MLP Academics Heidelberg on Sunday evening. Augustine Rubit was the best scorer with 19 points for the Bavarians, who successfully defended their lead in the standings. Earlier, coach Tuomas Iisalo’s Bonn team had beaten former series champion Brose Bamberg 95-81 (52-39) to record their ninth win in their tenth home game.

The outstanding player for the hosts was point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright, who scored 40 points at excellent odds. On the side of the Upper Franconians, Christian Sengfelder (18 points) presented himself strongly. With seven wins and ten losses, Bamberg is falling further and further behind in the fight for the play-off places.

Close defeat for Berlin

Champion Alba Berlin experienced a disappointment. The capital city team narrowly lost their home game against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg 75:76 (38:44) and thus suffered their fifth defeat this season. The Albatrosse still have several catch-up games after a Corona outburst to catch up with the top group. For Ludwigsburg, Tremmell Darden scored 22 points, including the decisive shot with ten seconds left to win the game.
