Bayer snatch 16-year-old Kanga

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are close to signing offensive talent Jardell Kanga from IF Brommapojkarna. But this has nothing to do with the possible departure of Nadiem Amiri.

The 16-year-old, who was promoted to the 2. Liga in Sweden with his club last calendar year, is expected to earn his spurs in the A-Junioren-Bundesliga at Leverkusen.

Copenhagen and Nordsjaelland courted with

Jardell Kanga can be used as a hanging point, right winger or in attacking midfield and has been courted intensively, especially by top Danish clubs FC Copenhagen and FC Nordsjaelland. But Bayer 04 are on the verge of completing the transfer of the Swede.

Audition in Barcelona – and in autumn in Leverkusen

Kanga, who has also auditioned for FC Barcelona’s youth team, already completed a trial in Leverkusen in the autumn, where he made a good impression. In Sweden, the attacking player made 23 appearances in the 3rd division in the 2021 season, with the left-footer scoring five goals for IF Brommapojkarna.

Remuneration of around 200,000 euros

Bayer will pay a transfer fee for the Swedish U-17 international that is said to be in the region of 200,000 euros. Kanga will receive the three-year contract possible for a youth player in Leverkusen.

Kanga cannot be categorised as a possible immediate replacement for German international Nadiem Amiri, who is being courted by CFC Genoa. On Saturday after the Werkself’s 2-1 win in Mönchengladbach, managing director Rudi Völler had stressed that, with the exception of Panagiotis Retsos, Bayer would not let any player go this winter unless they could sign another player for the position in question.
