Bayer screwed on loan deal with Hudson-Odoi

For months, Bayer 04 have been working on strengthening their left wing position. After the transfer of Ukrainian international Mykhaylo Mudryk (Shakhtar Donetsk) fell through, Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has now become the object of desire

It would be an exclamation mark. According to English media reports, Bayer 04 Leverkusen are close to signing winger Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea FC. The 21-year-old England international (3 appearances) is said to be moving to the Champions League contender on loan and the deal is already well advanced.

That the right-footer, in whom more than a dozen clubs are said to have expressed interest, is a very concrete topic at the Bundesliga club. However, a consummation of the deal is not to be expected, at least not today (Wednesday), but also not ruled out until the Werkself’s next Bundesliga match on Saturday in Mainz. However, especially in the last few days before the transfer deadline, almost all possible capers are conceivable.

Under Tuchel, Odson-Odoi has been on the outside lately

According to English sources, Hudson-Odoi, who is said to have stopped training with Chelsea FC on Tuesday, has already decided on Leverkusen as his new club. At Bayer 04, he would have the chance to make regular appearances, which he did not get under coach Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea FC. The quick winger, who was sought after by FC Bayern München two years ago, has not yet been allowed to play for the Blues this season.

If the loan deal goes through, it would close the biggest gap so far for the Werksklub, which started the Bundesliga season with three defeats. While the Champions League participants have an absolute top solution on the right side in the form of left-footer Moussa Diaby, coach Gerardo Seoane lacks an equivalent option on the left.

The loan would solve a problem

Acquisition Adam Hlozek (20, Slavia Prague), probably better suited centrally, has not been able to make any impact as a left winger so far. Amine Adli (broken collarbone) is out until October, as is right winger Karim Bellarabi (meniscus operation), with whom Seoane would have the option of putting Diaby on the left wing. If Bayer pull off the coup with Hudson-Odoi, the Swiss would at least have one problem less with two top players for the two attacking wing positions.
