Two Bayern professionals could win their second award of the season, while two Leipzig players could secure a first for RB: who will win the final POTM card of the year for EA SPORTS FC 26?
With just over ten hours to go before the turn of the year, EA SPORTS and the DFL have announced the vote for the last Player of the Month (POTM) of the 2025 Bundesliga season. Although the winner will not be announced until the new year, they will receive the award for their performances in December. As is tradition, an improved POTM card for Ultimate Team from FC 26 will also be awarded.
As usual, there are six Bundesliga professionals to choose from, with half of the field coming from FC Bayern Munich. Harry Kane was in a pre-Christmas scoring mood, netting five goals in the three December games leading up to the winter break. Three of those came in the 30 minutes after he came on as a substitute against VfB Stuttgart (5-0).
For Kane, it would be his second award after his victory in September – and his second POTM card in FC 26. The same would apply to Michael Olise, who won in November. The Frenchman impressed before the holidays with one goal and two assists in three games. Will one of the two FCB pros already score a POTM double?
Stanisic unusually strong in attack
The competition includes a teammate: Bayern defender Josip Stanisic is also nominated. The Croatian was unusually dangerous in front of goal in December, scoring two goals and providing one assist. It would be the 25-year-old’s first POTM award of his Bundesliga career.
Leipzig’s Christoph Baumgartner and Yan Diomande are also hoping for a first. The former impressed with a goal and three assists. The Ivorian, meanwhile, scored a hat trick in the 6-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Diomande is currently with the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Patrick Wimmer of VfL Wolfsburg is the clear underdog. Although the midfielder should be the favorite in purely sporting terms: the Austrian scored three goals in total against Union Berlin (3-1) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-1) and provided two assists against SC Freiburg (3-4).
Austrian still without an Inform item
However, the outcome of the public vote is usually determined not only by performances on the real pitch, but also by the prospects on the virtual turf. The upgrades of a possible POTM card for Wimmer would be based on his gold item, which has a total of 77 points.
In this respect, he shares last place. Kane (TOTW, 91), Olise (POTM, 87), Stanisic (TOTW, 86), and Diomande (TOTW, 84) each have a significantly better base. Only his compatriot Baumgartner, like Wimmer, does not yet have an Inform Item in FC 26 – his Gold card also has 77 points.
As always, the POTM item for the winner of the vote will be unlocked by completing a Squad Building Challenge (SBC) in FUT. Voting takes place on the corresponding subpage of EA SPORTS. The developer made a faux pas in its announcement for October.
