A spectacular championship season: FC Bayern set these 16 records

FC Bayern was in a league of its own during the past Bundesliga season. Coach Vincent Kompany’s team not only played with determination, confidence, and a hunger for goals—it also set 16 impressive records.

There had been no doubt about FC Bayern’s 35th championship title from the very beginning. The Munich side had been too dominant right from the start and had suffered just a single defeat after 34 matchdays.

Above all, the attacking trio of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise ran rings around virtually every opponent, enabling FCB to score an impressive 122 goals by the end of the season. More than any other club—including any Munich team—has ever scored in the German top flight. Nor had there been a comparable figure in the top five European leagues to date; only FC Turin in the 1947–48 Serie A season had been more efficient, with 125 goals.

Goals galore lead to records galore

But the record champions didn’t just set this record—they also achieved the highest goal difference ever (+86), recorded the most goals in away games (54), and scored the most goals from corner kicks (15, since records began in 2004/05).

Particularly interesting: Kompany’s team found themselves trailing on several occasions throughout the season—including on Matchday 32 against Heidenheim (0-2, 3-3 final score), as well as earlier in Mainz (4-3 after trailing 0-3) and in Freiburg (3-2 after trailing 0-2). After falling behind, FC Bayern racked up a total of eight wins—a record they share with Leverkusen from the 1999/2000 season.

Additional records set by the formidable attack led by top scorer Kane (36 goals in 31 league games): most points after falling behind (29—also a shared record with Leverkusen in 1999/2000), most assists by a single player (Olise with 22—tying the record held by former Leipzig player Emil Forsberg), and the player with the most assists after coming off the bench (Olise with six).

In addition: the most goals by substitutes in the entire squad (20), the most assists by substitutes in the entire team (21), and the most points by substitutes (41)—all while fielding the most teenagers. Ten players were 19 years old or younger before the start of the season—only Schalke had the same number in 1980/81.

Neuer included: Bayern records numbers 13, 14, 15, and 16

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who was recalled by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann on Thursday and thus reversed his long-standing retirement to play in the upcoming World Cup in North America (June 11 to July 19), had meanwhile celebrated his 375th victory in the German top flight during the Bundesliga season. A new all-time record.

Munich also became the fifth team in Bundesliga history to remain completely undefeated in away games (Bayern had already achieved this themselves in the 1986–87 and 2012–13 seasons; otherwise, Bayer Leverkusen managed it during their championship seasons in 2023–24 and 2024–25).

Last but not least, FCB once again scored at least one goal in both matches against VfL Wolfsburg (8-1 and 1-0). This means the club from Säbener Straße has now found the net at least once in 36 consecutive matches against VfL—another new record.

Just as impressive is the fact that spectators and fans witnessed a total of 158 goals—including those conceded—across all 34 of FC Bayern Munich’s league matches during the 2025/26 season. With this, the Munich side surpassed the previous record set by Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1981/82 season (155).
