The eSports season in FC 26 is about to enter its intense international phase—meanwhile, EA SPORTS has announced the expansion of the Pro ecosystem. A second World Cup is set to take place as early as 2026.
These days, high-level esports isn’t just played with a mouse, keyboard, or controller. The EWC prize pool for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition is higher than that for FC 26. Competitive gaming on smartphones is on the rise—and EA SPORTS is jumping on the bandwagon.
On Wednesday, the publisher announced its latest esports project: FC Pro Mobile. A platform for the best mobile players of the corresponding version of EA SPORTS FC. There is no major testing phase for community feedback—the starting gun has already been fired.
World Championship in October
Mobile gamers have been able to register since Tuesday, with the first qualifier set to take place as early as June. The highlights of the debut season will be the FC Pro Mobile Mid-Season Playoffs in July and, finally, the FC Pro Mobile World Championship 2026 in October.
The road to the second World Championship in EA SPORTS FC features various paths: One Global Qualifier each in June and August, regional qualifiers for primarily Asian, African, and Arab regions, as well as several tournaments organized by league and publisher partners.
Europe has barely been represented so far
The exact breakdown and composition of the field of participants for the Mobile World Championship is not yet known. However, eight players are guaranteed to secure their spots through the FC Pro Mobile Mid-Season Playoffs. Details on additional paths are to be “announced soon.”
The initial announcement says almost nothing about Europe. Mobile esports is booming significantly less here than in Asia, for example. It is at least doubtful whether European players will have a say in the title races. It’s a completely different story on the controller.
The last five world champions of the console versions of FIFA and FC, respectively, came from Europe. The FC Pro World Championship 2026 will be held at the end of July. Before that, however, the trophy is up for grabs: The eChampions League kicks off its league phase this Friday.
