The 24-year-old comes from AS Monaco and has signed a contract in the French capital that runs through 2031. According to reports, the Champions League titleholder is paying 50 million euros to its league rival.
This puts Akliouche on par with Desiré Doué, who also moved from Stade Rennes to Paris in 2024 for 50 million euros. With this latest transfer, the team led by coach Luis Enrique is preparing for the possible departure of Bradley Barcola, who is reportedly already in agreement with Liverpool FC. Although, unlike Barcola, Akliouche tends to play on the right wing.
“The move to Paris Saint-Germain fills me with great pride. Since I grew up in the Paris region, joining such a prestigious club means a great deal to me and my family,” Akliouche is quoted as saying in a statement. “I can’t wait to wear this jersey, continue to develop at this great club, and give my all to represent Paris Saint-Germain in front of our fans.”
The left-footed player is considered a major talent in France. In 2017, the then-15-year-old moved from US Torcy to Monaco’s youth academy. There, he progressed through the U-17 and U-19 youth teams before making his Ligue 1 debut on October 16, 2021, at the age of 19.
Akliouche was considered Leverkusen’s top transfer target
Since then, the Frenchman, who also has Algerian roots, has appeared in 139 competitive matches for Monaco, scoring 23 goals and setting up 28 more. Akliouche quickly caught the attention of top European clubs. Bayer 04 Leverkusen also vied for the technically gifted left-footed player but ultimately came away empty-handed. The Rhineland-based club was neither able nor willing to pay the 60 million euros demanded by Monaco last summer. Instead of Akliouche, Bayer later signed his equally talented teammate Eliesse Ben Seghir.
In September, Akliouche—who won a silver medal with the U-21 team at the 2024 Olympic Games—was called up to the national team by Didier Deschamps for the first time. Following strong performances last season (seven goals, eleven assists), he was named to the 2026 World Cup squad. There, however, Akliouche was a reserve behind top stars Ousmane Dembelé, Michael Olise, and Doué, playing just seven minutes in the 3-0 group-stage victory over Iraq.
In Monaco’s 3-1 league victory over PSG in March, Akliouche shone with two goal contributions. Prior to that, he had made his mark in the Champions League round of 32 against Paris, contributing to a goal in both the first and second legs of the two-legged series. This coming Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa, the winger could make his debut for his new club.
