7:0! Moukoko’s treble crowns Svensson’s debut in Copenhagen

A perfect debut for former Bundesliga coach Bo Svensson at 1. FC Copenhagen. Youssoufa Moukoko also scored three times in the 7-0 win over Silkeborg.

FCopenhagen started the relegation round of the Danish Superliga with two defeats and subsequently fired Jacob Neestrup. Last Monday, the Danish record champions presented Bo Svensson, who had most recently worked in the Bundesliga for Union Berlin (2024) and Mainz 05 (2021 to 2023), as his successor.

On this Easter Sunday evening, Svensson, who had been considered a possible successor to Horst Steffen at Werder Bremen in February, finally celebrated his debut on the touchline in Copenhagen, where the 46-year-old spent his youth and won three championships as a professional between 1996 and 2006.

The opponents were Silkeborg IF, who did not stand a chance throughout the match. Moukoko, another familiar face from the Bundesliga, got the game off to a perfect start, scoring after just six minutes to give the former Dortmund man the lead. Roberto Silva (12) and Clem (17) quickly made things clear, before the ex-Dortmund player added to his tally in the 25th minute to make it 4-0 at the break.

Moukoko doubles his tally

The 21-year-old bagged his treble immediately after the restart (51′) and Robert Silva completed the half-dozen after just over an hour (62′). Former Schalke player Larsson scored the final goal to make it 7-0 (78′).

The player of the match was, of course, Moukoko, who – like the club as a whole – had not had an easy season so far. In 18 games in the regular season, the German 2022 World Cup winner had only scored three times in total. However, Moukoko doubled his meagre tally on Sunday evening – and thus ensured a dream debut for Svensson.

Kopenhagen may be playing in the relegation round, but they no longer have to worry about staying up. The win against Silkeborg puts FCK back at the top of the six-team league and ten points clear of the relegation zone.
