Fitness First Würzburg Baskets made a statement offensively against Tartu Ülikool. In a convincing 113–79 home victory, strong three-point shooting and the squad’s immense depth established a clear lead early on.
Tartu kept the game close in the first quarter and trailed by just 20–23 after ten minutes. However, Würzburg then upped the tempo, repeatedly finding good scoring opportunities and pulling decisively ahead with a 17–0 run. By half-time, the hosts were already leading 54–39.
After the break, the match became a one-sided affair. Würzburg scored 33 points in the third quarter, allowing the visitors just 17, and went into the final quarter with a comfortable 87–56 lead. The home side extended their lead to 36 points, the biggest of the evening.
Sam Griffin led Würzburg with 21 points, sinking four of his six three-pointers. Max Jones contributed 19 points in just under 20 minutes, whilst Brandon Tischler impressed with 17 points, making seven of nine shots. In total, six Würzburg players scored in double figures.
Statistically, too, the Baskets were clearly superior: they made 14 of their 29 three-pointers, won the rebound battle 48–30 and collected 19 offensive rebounds. This resulted in 20 points from second-chance opportunities, whilst Würzburg also scored 28 points off the visitors’ turnovers.
